The Auburn Valley YMCA offers convenient, affordable quality child care and before school and after school programs. They coordinate with local schools on homework assistance and offer diverse programs including arts, science and sports. These services can truly help save a family. Julia and her children experienced this firsthand.

Julia originally came to the Y looking for childcare for her son Zyair. The staff at the Y’s Sherwood Forest Childcare site quickly became a part of their extended family, growing with the addition of daughters Nadjae and Kahlea. When Julia suddenly required emergency heart surgery — and months of recovery time afterwards — the Y stepped up to help. Throughout this difficult time, the Sherwood Forest team gave the kids a stable and comforting environment that allowed them to continue as much of their daily routine as possible. As other providers denied and discontinued assistance, the Y continued to be a strong support for the family. Julia felt she was more capable of addressing her own healing knowing that her children were in caring hands. “Knowing the Y was there for us relieved a huge burden off my shoulders. I wish and I hope that other parents going through the same things will have this same opportunity. ”
